I recently acquired off ebay a small digital camera called the Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-P32. According to this website, the camera originally retailed for around 230$ in 2003, but I only paid 30 in 2025 so that’s pretty neat.
I have recently been on a spree of being drawn to strange and old gadgets and gizmos. I recently bought, and am awaiting delivery of, a particular mobile computing device and I’ve been really interested in old modern technology such as flip phones and old camcorders. I find that the low quality images produced by the older devices has a certain personal charm to it that more modern devices like my pixel 7 simply lacks.
Alongside this direct charm of quality, there also exists a significant level of tactile presence and charm that my smartphone lacks due to it’s streamlined shape and formfactor. The feeling of the lens opening and closing whenever I turn the camera on or off, the gentle weight in my hands and the physical button I must press to capture a photo. It all comes together to form a very fascinating experience, one completely foreign to me who grew up only ever using similar cameras in my long-forgotten youth.
I have named the camera Wesley Munder.
Probably my favourite photo taken with Wesley so far, this is of an abandoned greenhouse on my college campus.

Some friends around my dorm, I’ll show more in a future post!!

Overall, I’m not planning on taking a bunch of “good” photos, nor am I wanting to talk in-depth about my process (primarily because I don’t really have one :P) I really just want this to be a fun place for me to post some simple photos I took on my silly little camera from 2003
